Relative pronouns: qui, que, où
«who, which, that, where, when», and why French never drops the relative pronoun.

- J'ai une amie qui habite à Nice.I have a friend who lives in Nice.
- Le livre que tu lis est intéressant.The book (that) you're reading is interesting.
- C'est le restaurant où nous avons dîné.It's the restaurant where we had dinner.
- Le jour où il est parti, il pleuvait.The day (when) he left, it was raining.
Qui never elides (qui arrive), but que becomes qu': le film qu'il a vu.
