Prepositions: à, de and the contractions au, du

«to / at / in» and «from / of» with towns, countries and places, and when articles merge with prepositions.

Contractions

À (to, at, in) and de (from, of) merge with le and les:

  • Je vais au cinéma.
    I'm going to the cinema.
  • Elle est à la plage.
    She's at the beach.
  • Il parle aux enfants.
    He's talking to the children.
  • Je rentre du travail.
