Possessive adjectives: mon, ma, mes…
«His» and «her» are the same word: the possessive agrees with the thing owned, not the owner.

Son or sa? The noun decides
- Pierre et sa mèrePierre and his mother
- Marie et son pèreMarie and her father
- Marie et sa voitureMarie and her car
- Nos enfants sont à l'école.Our children are at school.
- C'est votre sac ?Is this your bag?
- Ils aiment leur ville.They love their town.
With body parts, French usually uses the definite article, not a possessive: J'ai mal à la tête (My head hurts). Il se lave les mains (He washes his hands).
