Only three irregulars: ser → era, eras, era, éramos, erais, eran · ir → iba, ibas, iba… · ver → veía, veías…
Uses
- past habits: De niño jugaba al fútbol = As a child I used to play football.
- descriptions (age, weather, time, appearance): Era tarde y llovía. = It was late and it was raining.
- an action in progress that gets interrupted: Dormía cuando sonó el teléfono. = I was sleeping when…
- Cuando vivía en Londres, iba al parque todos los fines de semana.When I lived in London, I used to go to the park every weekend.
- La casa era pequeña pero tenía un jardín precioso.The house was small but it had a beautiful garden.
