Gustar and similar verbs
Me gusta / me gustan: the thing you like is the subject.
Gustar doesn't mean «to like» but «to be pleasing to». The thing you like is the subject, and the person is an indirect object (me, te, le…).

The same pattern: encantar (to love a thing), interesar (to interest), doler (to hurt), importar (to matter), parecer (to seem).
- ¿Te gusta el chocolate? – ¡Me encanta!Do you like chocolate? – I love it!
- A mi padre le interesan mucho los deportes.My father is very interested in sport.
