Estar + gerund: what is happening now
Estoy hablando: forming the gerund and when to use it.

| vowel + -er/-ir: leer, oír | leyendo, oyendo |
| e→i, o→u: pedir, dormir | pidiendo, durmiendo |
Estar + gerund stresses that an action is in progress at this moment or during this period: ¿Qué estás haciendo? – Estoy cocinando.
- Ahora no puedo, estoy trabajando.I can't now, I'm working.
- Los niños están durmiendo.The children are sleeping.
