Adjectives: agreement and position

Adjectives agree in gender and number and usually come after the noun.

The normal position is after the noun: una casa blanca, un coche rápido. Quantities (mucho, poco, otro) and some emotional adjectives go before.

Shortened adjectives

Before a masculine singular noun: bueno → buen, malo → mal, primero → primer, tercero → tercer. Grande becomes gran before any singular noun and means «great».

  • Es un buen libro y una historia interesante.
    It's a good book and an interesting story.
  • Mis amigas son muy simpáticas.
    My (female) friends are very nice.
