Los phrasal verbs: lo esencial
get up, look for, give up, turn on, find out: verbo + partícula.
Un phrasal verb es un verbo seguido de una partícula (up, out, off, on…) que cambia su significado. Están por todas partes en la lengua hablada.

| get on with | llevarse bien con | I get on well with my boss. |
¿Separables o no?
Con un pronombre, los phrasal verbs separables lo colocan entre el verbo y la partícula: Turn it off (no «turn off it»). Con un nombre, valen los dos órdenes: turn off the light / turn the light off.
