Can et l'impératif

Exprimer la capacité, la permission, et donner des ordres ou des conseils.

Can / can't

Can est un modal : même forme à toutes les personnes, suivi de la base verbale sans « to », questions et négation sans « do ».

  • She can swim.
    Elle sait nager.
  • Can I open the window?
    Je peux ouvrir la fenêtre ?
  • I can't hear you.
    Je ne t'entends pas.

L'impératif

Base verbale sans sujet : Sit down. Open the door. Be careful! Négatif avec don't : Don't worry. Don't be late. Pour « allons… » : let's : Let's go! Let's not argue.
