The vocative: addressing people

Γιώργο!, κύριε Παπαδόπουλε!, Κώστα!: the form used to call someone.

When you address someone directly, masculine nouns and names take a special form, the vocative:

ο Νίκος, ο ΓιώργοςΝίκο!, Γιώργο!-ος → -ο (most two-syllable names)

ο Παπαδόπουλοςκύριε Παπαδόπουλε!-ος → -ε
η Μαρία, το παιδίΜαρία!, παιδί μου!feminine and neuter: no change
