Personal pronouns: εγώ, εσύ, αυτός…

Usually left out, like in Spanish or Italian, with a polite plural «εσείς».

For politeness, Greek uses the plural εσείς (with plural verbs) when speaking to one person you don't know well: Πώς είστε; = How are you? (polite).

  • Πώς σας λένε; – Με λένε Γιώργο.
    What's your name? (polite) – My name is Giorgos.
  • Εμείς είμαστε από το Λονδίνο.
    We are from London.
