Gender and articles: ο, η, το
Three genders — masculine, feminine, neuter — and the definite and indefinite articles.
Every Greek noun is masculine, feminine or neuter, and the article shows which. The ending of the noun usually tells you the gender too.

- Masculine: usually -ος, -ας, -ης: ο φίλος, ο άντρας, ο μαθητής.
- Feminine: usually -α, -η: η μητέρα, η αδελφή.
- Neuter: usually -ο, -ι, -μα: το βιβλίο, το παιδί, το όνομα.
- Ο Νίκος έχει ένα αυτοκίνητο και μια μηχανή.Nikos has a car and a motorbike.
- Το κορίτσι είναι στο σπίτι.The girl is at home.
